We had an excellent chat live from #BIF9 about Innovation Competencies, and this week we'll also connect with #BIF9 with the topic, "What We Learned from #BIF9." Those who attended the conference, watched the livestream, and/or participated in the Twitter conversation are welcome to share their learnings.

If you missed all of that, our very own Dr. John W. Lewis (@johnwlewis) went above and beyond the call of duty to create Tweet archives for the #BIF9 hashtag during the Sept. 18-19 event. You can access these (very large!) files via these links:

I have been a strong advocate in Innochat for experimental approaches, test-and-learn processes for innovation. It's one thing to say that, though, and another thing to actually discuss how to do it.

Who Are Innovation Champions?

Several chats ago, @LoisMarketing (Lois Martin) raised the concept of identifying innovation champions in organizations. If memory serves (and it is a faulty tool at best) the chat topic in which this concept arose was focused on making the most out of our connections. Connections, networks and the role of key nodes in networks has been a topic we have explored on many occasions here at #innochat. The power of those key nodes, or innovation champions is something we will explore this week.

This #innochat is part of our partnership with the Business Innovation Factory. Our guests, Matt Ridings (@techguerilla) and Amber Naslund (@ambercadabra), will lead a workshop on Social Business at #BIF9, which is coming up Sept. 18-19 in Providence.

About their topic of Social Business, Matt Ridings wrote:

'Disrupt' is a Verb!

The idea of disruption in innovation has its roots in academia with the late-90s publication of The Innovator's Dilemma by Clayton Christensen, a Harvard Business School professor. The idea that well-managed companies adhering to the classic rules for management -- move in the direction of the highest margins -- could still be wiped off the business map by competition that rose up from nowhere was original with Christensen.

Many in the USA are celebrating something about being independent, or some such thing. :-)

While many of us consume our body weight in BBQ victuals we will leave you with this single question topic:

What's your favorite innovation idea?

Be kind to each other. See you next week (unless we decide that the heat is too much and we would prefer your company.
