We had a GREAT chat last week on stealth innovation, and it raised some interesting questions about corporate culture.Specifically, do innovators have to go stealth because of a problem in the culture? (My take: often yes, but stealth is also a good tactic for reasons related to the innovation itself, not to the culture).

But -- if stealthy innovation is used as a way to get around a culture that doesn't foster innovation, it's at best a short-term tactic that will erode trust eventually. Better is to fix a corporate culture. So let's talk about ways to fix an innovation-averse corporate culture.

Possible questions:

  1. What are the specific cultural issues indicated by innovation aversion -- what's the ROOT of the problem?
  2. What are some ways to fix the problems?
  3. What can individuals within the culture do to help?
