Demands for energy availability and storage are increasing as the world continues to change the mix of forms in which energy is sourced and consumed. Energy is required to be available in different forms and to be stored in increasing quantities.

Historically, there have been some well-known forms of energy storage. These are used on a range of scales, from small electrical batteries to very water based large pump storage power stations. As demand changes, we are already seeing a variety of innovative developments in the type and scale of energy storage.

One of the major developments enabling greater availability is the increased use of electricity as an intermediate form of energy. Energy generation from renewable sources is, generally, less predictable and controllable. Also domestic electrical supplies generally cannot deliver as much power as fossil fuel supplies. These factors are increasing the need for energy storage.

Let's discuss "Innovations in Energy Availability and Storage" on Twitter during #innochat for an hour starting at 12noon Eastern time on Thursday December 14th.
